I've served as the Treasurer of the GPDC for the past eight years and was a member several years before that. There has been a Dal in my life for nearly 60 years. Unlike many of our members, I've only had one at a time. I'm beginning to doubt the wisdom of that decision as I get older and am expected to be the constant playmate since there are no other canines with whom to play. The current one, Onyx, brings joy to my life every day. I'm not a breeder (If I were, I fear that I would have 101 Dalmatians) and have not competed in Conformation. Onyx proudly has two Rally titles and continues to take Agility classes because they are fun for both of us. Most of our members compete, but there is also a place in our club for those who just love having a Dal. The people I've met through the GPDC and their wonderful canines have added so much to my life. Great friendships can develop through the love of Dalmatians. As can be seen in the photos, ribbons and titles are nice, but for us, even more enjoyable are the walks at our favorite spot, Twin Lakes, playing in the snow and relaxing at home. When I gave Onyx her name "Touchstone's The Good Life" it was because any dog living in our home is soooo spoiled and is sure to live the good life; I didn't realize at that time how much she would add to my also living the Good Life.
